Archimedes was a greek mathematician born in Syracuse, he lived from 287-212BC. He made many mathematical discoveries such as working out how calculate the volume of a sphere. He also invented many things such as a big claw to get rid of romans, he also supposedly put lots of mirrors together to reflect the sun's rays onto a single point so as to burn roman ships but has never been proven.
